King Of Prussia Returns

Two of my most favorite fellow’s in the world, Nathan Troutman and A.J.Rownd just relocated to Chicago to reunite with their band: King Of Prussia. Although I was sad to see them go, I’m psyched for them to be giving it another go! The band consists of Brandon Hannick, Brian Smith and three of Myrtle Beach’s own, Nathan Troutman, A.J. Rownd and Chris Tucker (Tucker). They decided to bypass the label Kindercore for the release of their second album, Transmissions From The Grand Strand and do this organically. The only way they can do this is with your help. If you send them some money, they send you some swag. Seems like a legit reason to me!

King Of Prussia

Per The Band:

We need to raise $3,500 in one month to pay for mastering, pressing CDs, making T-shirts, buttons, and stickers, and getting the word out to press and radio. Wanna help? No good deed goes unreturned. All donors receive rad King of Prussia stuff! Let’s do it!
Our band, King of Prussia, has finished recording its second full-length album, Transmissions from the Grand Strand, but we need your help to give it a proper release…without a record label. The album is about things like love, death, the means of creating and maintaining Transatlantic power structures, the Tropics, graduation, gradual ascendance, love, and various otras cosas.

We started the recording process in Myrtle Beach, SC (hence “the Grand Strand”) way back in August, 2009. It took us a (really, really) long time to make, but we are thrilled with the way it turned out. We hope to collect donations throughout the month of December to help us repay recording costs, master the album, press CDs, make T-shirts, buttons and stickers, self-promote our album to press and radio, and ship advance copies of the albums to fans.

The band has relocated to Chicago and we now live and practice in an old church (the band’s second) which has been converted into a house. We love it here, but it’s cold….damn cold. Nathan never even gets out of his robe. We need to release the album and hit the road. Head south for the winter, if you will. Will you?

“Those with seasonal affective disorder (or really anyone who finds these colder months depressing), will find that a listen to Save The Scene will work as well as sticking your head in a lightbox to up your serotonin production on a grey, snowy day.” –Pitchfork

“King of Prussia is a sextet that dispenses regal, twee-pop with sweet harmonies, ringing guitars and infectious melodies.” NPR Second Stage

“The Athens, Ga. group’s debut release heaps of promise.”–Paste Magazine
